Alicia Higa was a young mother on the west side of Oʻahu, raising two children and carrying the kind of quiet struggle that doesn’t make the news — figuring out how to put a meal on the table. Today, she runs ʻElepaio Social Services in Waiʻanae, working to make sure other families on the coast have help facing those same challenges. This is the story of how someone who once needed a hand became someone who extends one — and why the Hawaiʻi Foodbank is here for everyone. Because life has a way of humbling even the strongest among us.
