When Kamalani Dung was fifteen, in one moment, everything she and her family had was gone. What followed was a period of great uncertainty, where she had to lean on the kindness of strangers that worked at her school and places like the Hawaiʻi Foodbank. Today, Kamalani is a professional softball pitcher on the international stage. But ask her about her story and she won’t start with the strikeouts or the championships. She’ll tell you she’s a product of a bunch of strangers doing good deeds — and that everything she gives back is because of them.
